This series includes 12 black and white photographs of Anna Laura Hittle Rings (1870-1931) and her husband, Arthur Rings (1877-1929), with their family. Many of the photographs are individual portraits of Anna and Arthur. A swastika appears in the final photo, however, this image predates the use of the symbol by Nazi-controlled Germany. Prior to its use as a hate symbol, the swastika held many meanings in various cultures around the world, often standing for wellbeing, prosperity, or good fortune
