This thimble was collected by a Kansas Historical Society archeologist at the Plaster House site in Gray County. The site is possibly a late 19th or early 20th century dugout. It may have been associated with the nearby Soule Canal or an unrelated railroad or ranch occupation. Thimbles were worn to protect the finger while pushing through a needle during sewing.
