This photograph shows an oil derrick erected in front of the entry arch to the Kafirville display area at the Kaffir Corn Carnival in El Dorado, Butler County, Kansas. A typed note on the back reads: "The discovery of oil in Butler County in 1915 brought a new look to Kafirville's entrance."
