Kansan Jim Golden (standing in the back, on the far right) is among the individuals pictured in this photograph of the 1956 Bakersfield Boosters minor league baseball team. The club was a Class C California League affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies. Golden pitched in 17 games for the Boosters, with a 4-8 record. He also pitched for the Schenectady, New York club in the 1956 season. Golden, of rural Topeka, was in the midst of a professional baseball career that spanned the period 1954-1964. During that time, he played for two major league and eight minor league teams. He pitched for both the Dodgers (1960-1961) and the Houston Colt .45s (1962-1963), achieving a 9-13 major league record, with an ERA of 4.54 in 69 game appearances. Seated in the front of the photo, on the ground are (l to r): Richard Conner, Joey _____ (batboy), and Eugene Caiafa. In the middle are (l to r): Red Lynn, Peter Fannon, Manuel Ortega, Edward Culbert, Darrold Myers, and Donald Thompson. Standing in the back are: A. Williams, B.
