This baseball cap from the early 1950s was worn by pitcher Jim Golden of the Mosby-Mack American Legion baseball team. The team represented Topeka's Capitol Post 1, and was named for the team's sponsor, the Mosby-Mack Ford dealership. Golden was a member of the team from 1951-1953, and led the Mosby-Macks to state championships in both 1952 and 1953. In 1953, the Macks also won the Legion's regional championship. During this same period, Golden was the leading pitcher for the Silver Lake High School team that captured the state title in 1953 and 1954. While pitching for Silver Lake, he set and still holds four state high school strikeout records. After high school, Jim Golden pursued a professional baseball career that spanned the period 1954-1964, including 69 game appearances in the major leagues as a member of the Los Angeles Dodgers (1960-61) and the Houston Colt .45s (1962-63).
