This writ of scire facias was issued for G. C. Douglas by the Second District Court of the Kansas Territory in Lecompton. The writ reports Douglas was summoned to act as a juror but failed to appear on May 9, 1859. A writ of scire facias is a judicial writ ordering a defendant to appear in court and explain why a judgement, in this case a fine of fifty dollars, should not be enforced.
