This writ of scire facias was issued for S. H. Davis by the United States District Court, Kansas Territory, Second District in Lecompton. The writ reports Davis was summoned to act as a juror but failed to appear on May 4, 1857. A writ of scire facias is a judicial writ ordering a defendant to appear in court and explain why a judgement, in this case a fine of ten dollars, should not be enforced.
