These legal documents relate to the case of the United States vs. James A. Davis for contempt. The judicial writs state Davis failed to attend the Third District Court in Fort Scott, Kansas Territory to serve as a witness for the United States. Davis was arrested and released on bond September 10, 1859. The last warrant, issued February 29, 1860, was returned unserved.
