This writ of scire facias was issued to William C. Chaistain on September 14, 1857 by the United States District Court, Kansas Territory, Second District. The writ reports Chaistain was summoned to act as a juror but failed to appear at the court in Franklin County on April 21, 1856. A writ of scire facias is a judicial writ ordering a defendant to appear in court and explain why a final judgement should not be enforced.
