This legal writ relates to the case of the Kansas Territory vs. Thomas Burke for contempt. Burke failed to obey the conditions of his bond for a previous crime by failing to attend the First District Court during the term starting on June 13, 1859 in Leavenworth, Kansas Territory. This writ of scire facias orders Burke to appear before the court during the September 1859 term and explain why a final judgement should not be made against him.
