These legal documents relate to the case of the Kansas Territory vs. Robert Buffum (Buffam). Buffum was accused by Alfred S. Addis of stealing a parcel of cloth from a store owned by Addis on January 3, 1856 in Lawrence, Kansas Territory. Addis states in his affidavit that Buffum was in the company of Clark Stearns, Alpheus Stearns, and Lewis Stearns. Buffum was released on bond on January 21, 1856.
