These legal documents relate to the case of the United States vs. Seth Bray for larceny. Bray was accused of cutting down and stealing trees worth a total of five hundred dollars between March 1, 1859 and May 1859 from Miami tribal land in the Kansas Territory. During the mid-19th century, the Miami tribal lands in the Kansas were located in Lykins (now Miami) and Linn counties. Bray was indicted by the U. S. District Court, Kansas Territory, Third District in Fort Scott during the May court term of 1859.
