This writ of scire facias was issued to Clayton Bradford on July 15, 1859 by the United States District Court, Kansas Territory, Second District, in Lecompton. The writ reports Bradford was summoned to act as a juror but failed to appear on May 9, 1859. A writ of scire facias is a judicial writ ordering a defendant to appear in court and explain why a judgement, in this case a fine of fifty dollars, should not be enforced.
