This writ of scire facias was issued on February 24, 1859 by the United States District Court, Kansas Territory, Second District in Lecompton for John Bourne. The writ reports Bourne was summoned to act as a juror for the Second District Court but failed to appear on January 4, 1859. A writ of scire facias is a judicial writ ordering a defendant to appear in court and explain why a judgement, in this case a fine of ten dollars, should not be enforced.
