These legal documents relate to the case against Henry Berry and Alfred C. McLane for stealing the horse of Charles Journeycake, a member of the Delaware tribe, on September 1, 1859 in Leavenworth County, Kansas Territory. 1830s to 1860s, the Delaware, or Lenape, tribal lands were located on the northern bank of the Kansas river near Jefferson and Leavenworth counties. Berry and McLane were indicted by the U. S. District Court, Kansas Territory, First District during April of 1860. An arrest warrant was issued for Henry Berry on September 10, 1860 but was returned unexecuted.
