This case file includes a warrant and bond related to the charge of contempt against Carmi W. Babcock on February 29, 1860 in Lecompton, Kansas Territory. An arrest warrant was issued for Babcock on February 29, 1860 by the 2nd District Court of the Kansas Territory. Babcock was arrested and released on bond March 20, 1860, and he was ordered to appear in court during the May term of 1860. Carmi W. Babcock was a lawyer and banker who was active in the Free State Legislature as well as serving as postmaster and mayor of Lawrence.
