These court documents relate to the case against Amos G. Adams for perjury regarding testimony provided about fraudulent voting in the Third Council District during the election of March 30th, 1855. During this election for the first governing body of Kansas, pro-slavery Missouri residents crossed the Kansas border to cast illegal votes, resulting in the so-called Bogus Legislature of 1855. Adams was charged in June of 1855 and released on bond in July of 1855.
