These are 35 folders that contain letters, booklets, correspondence, news clippings, and art purchase lists. The documents in these folders primarily relate to Elise Nuzman Allen, Henry Allen's wife, and all pertain to different art dealings. Elsie Jane Allen was born on September 27, 1869, the oldest daughter of Frederick C. and Mary Jane (Anderson) Nuzman in Circleville, Kansas. Elsie graduated from Circleville schools, then attended Baker University in Baldwin City, Kansas. She graduated from Baker in the class of 1890. She was the First Lady of Kansas from 1919 to 1923. Elsie was a great patron of the arts. She gave her large art collection to Baker University in 1919 and worked to start up the Wichita Arts Association, serving on its board from 1921 till her death in 1951. There are notable names within these folders, some of which include John Taylor Arms, John Steuart Curry, Robert Merrell Gage, William Allen White, and Frank Lloyd Wright.
