The Wayne L. Bishops Collection contains letters written during his service in World War II to his wife Florence and son Darrel. He served in the 382nd Infantry Regiment, 96th Division, Tenth Army and was wounded during a battle on Okinawa. The letters tell about Wayne's experiences in the military including training and dealing with the wound he received in battle. There is a letter telling about Wayne attending a United Nations conference. Also, the collection contains Bishop's military papers; a Report of the Rapporteur of Committee II/4, The United Nations Conference on International Organization, Commission II General Assembly, June 20, 1945; and letters written by Ernest H. Sims, a friend, and Warren M. Bishop, Wayne's brother. A copy of the publication World War II Letters by Wayne L. Bishop 1944/45 is included in the collection.
