This is a photograph of Wayne L., Florence and Darrel Bishop. The photograph was possibly taken in early 1944 before Wayne was drafted and inducted into the US Army on September 20, 1944. He served in 382nd Infantry Regiment, 96th Division in the Tenth Army and was wounded during a battle on Okinawa. While serving in World War II, Wayne wrote numerous letters to his family. The letters are in the Manuscripts Collection at the Kansas State Historical Society and a book titled World War II Letters by Wayne L. Bishop 1944/45, written by Darrel Bishop is available in the State Archives.
