Elizabeth Miller Watkins (1861-1939), known to many in Lawrence, Kansas as "Lady Bountiful", began working as an office clerk for J.B. Watkins Land and Mortgage Co. During her tenure with the company, Elizabeth advanced to assistant secretary. Unable to complete preparatory school, Elizabeth dedicated herself to promoting access to education for women through a scholarship for female students at the University of Kansas. This artificial collection of photographs came from the efforts of the Elizabeth Miller Watkins project.
