This photograph shows the reproduction of the Norman No. 1 wooden drilling rig and the museum building when they sat on the original site of the Norman No. 1 oil well in Neodesha, Wilson County, Kansas. The Norman No. 1 was the first well drilled in the Mid-Continent Field. The historic site was dedicated on July 30, 1961. In the late 1980s it was moved several blocks north to the historical museum on Main Street. The photograph was taken by Johnson's Studio and Camera Shop.
