The Kansas and Nebraska map includes topographic features, locations of forts and missions, identifies the Santa Fe Trail as Santa Fe Road, and indicates Native American inhabitation. The map was removed from G. W. Colton's Colton's General Atlas with page number 52. On the reverse is information on the Territories of New Mexico and Utah. It contains county names and boundaries in Kansas, Nebraska, and the parts of Missouri and Iowa. The map shows state capitals, railroads and common roads. In the lower left corner, are district names and locations of land offices, the arrangement of sections in a township, and an explanation.
