Shown is a view of the West Island site taken in 1963 by State Archeologist T. Witty. The site was first exposed by erosion and revealed human remains (none pictured), bone, pottery and chipped stone artifacts. Shown here is a profile of excavation unit 142. The Keith phase site would have been occupied sometime between 500 and 1100 CE.
