The first photograph shows a grove of trees along the Fall River where Little Bear, chief of the Little Osage Indian tribe, was camping at the time of his death in 1867, near the present day Neodesha fairgrounds. The second photograph is a distant shot of Little Bear Mound, where he was buried. According to the Wichita Eagle Magazine, July 10, 1955, the grave was on the southern summit. Little Bear Mound is located northwest of Neodesha, Wilson County, Kansas.
