Louis Palenske photographed this unidentified mining town while on one of his Western photographic excursions. Along the furthest edge of town, one can see the rooflines of both a church and school, while in the right foreground there appears to be a courthouse. In an unusual twist, there appears to be a gallows in the back yard of the courthouse. There does not appear to be any rail line entering this town. Funded by the National Historical Publications and Records Commission through the Kansas State Historical Records Advisory Board.
