This is a studio portrait of Caroline Gongell Palenske, the mother of photographer Louis Palenske. She was born on March 12, 1835 and died in Alma on December 9, 1912. This photograph is a reproduction by photographer Louis Palenske, created at his studio in Osage City in the 1930s. On the reverse is written, "Caroline Palenske Papa's Mother." Funded by the National Historical Publications and Records Commission through the Kansas State Historical Records Advisory Board.
