This postcard shows the Commercial National Bank, owned by Louis Palenske, as it looked shortly after its opening in1908. The building is located at 226 Missouri Street in Alma, Kansas. Funds to purchase the building were given to the Historical Society by Louis Palenske's son, Fred Palenske. Fred Palenske writes on the reverse of the card, "Now Palenske Hall. I bot (sic) this building 6-12-69 and will become the property of the Wabaunsee County Historical Society. We lived upstairs. Fred Palenske." Funded by the National Historical Publications and Records Commission through the Kansas State Historical Records Advisory Board.
