Highly corroded Model 1861 Remington revolver with missing grips. This pistol was found in 1913 along the Cimarron River on the old Santa Fe Trail, near the southwest corner of Haskell County, Kansas. While digging for fish bait, two boys recovered the pistol. The donor theorized the pistol belonged to the pathfinder Jedediah Smith, who was killed by Indians near that location in 1831.
