Label for a bottle of Dr. Brinkley's Constipation and Liver Medicine. From the Richey & Carr Drugstore in Erie, Kansas. The drug store was purchased by brothers-in-law Earle Richey and Nelson Carr in 1922. Sometime in the early 1930s it became simply Richey's. Earle's son, Marion, joined him in the business in 1946. The store is still in business as a family-owned drug store under the Richey name, although it was purchased by Steve and Anne Smith in 1993 and moved to a new location on Main Street in 2009. In addition to operating his clinic in Milford, John R. Brinkley also sold a wide range of patent medicines that he advertised and prescribed through his radio station.
