Sir – it has been some time since I have heard froom you. I rote you a Letter when in Quindaro some few weeaks a go, recived yet no answer. I have give up liveing in Quindaro & are going to spend the winter here. a friend of mine has got me a job of work to do, but I have had the Chills so I have not been able to get out to see the man as yet. I am taking a new kind of mederson which is having a good efecct & shall be able to get out soon I hope. It has been about fifteen weeaks since I was first taken Shaken & for my part have got about sick of this country if I must Shake all the time.

Mr Hill About Quindaro I do not what to say about the prospects, the store that was once occupied by Sheaphear & Henry has been moved down to Kansas City by Jacob Henry to hoome the goods wer consined to. Mr Henry has built a very nice store in our town but he see how things wer working & thought best to move his store goods to Kansas City & Sheapheard has gone back into the store to take charge of the seling of them. Mr Colly is going to Leave the Hotell & come up to Leavenworth to live & Parker is a going East. things are looking rather dull about thare now. I see Mr Guthrine a few days a go & had a few words with him in regard to the town. he says the prospects are better in his mind at the presant time than thay every wer & [xxx] over some things. He says thare are

other things of more importance to do first than Grading Kansas avenew. he says thare is to be a Ion Foundary the Mill is about to start again & he says that thay are working hard to get a Rail Road started, but wether it will amount to any more than it has before I am not able to write. In my last from home my folks thought it doubtful about you comeing out here this fall. If you should I will come down to Quindaro if you will send me a line you will hafter come here or to Kansas City to get to Lawrence in yours please write what you wish me to do & address your Letter to Leavenworth City
