Quindaro Kansas August 8, 1857
Hiram Hill Esq
Dear Sir.
Gov. Robinson came down last Evening, and I have today had a conversation with him in reference to the lands outside of town, and what was was intended to be done with Mr Simpson or aid those who had purchased of him! He says that he presumes the matter will be made all right between the Company and Mr S. That they feel wronged by Simpson & do not mean to have it in his power to get any more advantage of them – He thinks Simpson will come back soon, & will make all right between them. But proving he don’t, I cant see how, they as a Co. or as individuals can repudiate any of the agreements of Mr S. when he was acting for them and their openly acknoweldged agent!
I saw Mr Long to day also and inquired of him if the bal of his money had been paid, he said it had not been – that he still held the notes for it – that he wished the notes would be paid.
Simpson I think gets his letters at Boston, & he is about there, somewhere –
No news of importance –
Truly Yours
Chas Chadwick
