The Santa Fe Trail - Cimarron National Grassland Segment 3 is located near Elkhart, Morton County, Kansas. Travel over this portion of the trail began in 1822 and ended in 1868 with the arrival of the railroad at the short-lived town of Sheridan, Kansas. This particular segment includes trail swales. It was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 2013.
