This poster and the accompanying photographs show dancers, participants and Miss Garden City Fiesta 2014 at the Garden City Community Mexican Fiesta. The Fiesta began in 1926 as a way to commemorate Mexico's independence from Spain. The celebration has broadened to include the entire community in celebrating Mexican heritage. It is held annually around the second weekend in September near Mexico's Independence Day, September 16. Festivities include the crowning of Miss Garden City Fiesta, a parade, family activities, live music, folkloric dancers, and traditional food.
