This is a photograph showing the victorious 89th Division football team. Members of the team are: left to right (lower row): Lt. G. Clark (end); Thompson (tackle); Capt. Withington (guard); Lt. Garside (guard); Lt. Lewis (center); Lt. Schweiger (tackle); Pvt. Laslett (end); and upper row: Lt. Adrian Hobart Lindsey (halfback); Sgt. Nelson ( fullback); Capt. Gerhardt (quarterback) later Major General; Lt. W. K. Clark (halfback) "Potsy" Clark later coached the Detroit Lions: Absent Higgins (end); Flannigan (guard); Padfield (fullback) and Fletcher (end). The American Expeditionary Forces (A.E.F.) Championship game was played at the Paris Velodrome where admirals and generals were in attendence. The game was played on May 30, 1919 before a crowd of an estimated 15,000 fans. The final score was 89th Division, 14 to 36th Division, six.
