This stone pipe was donated to the Kansas Historical Society in 1898. It was found in the sand in Sedgwick County by Miss Sarah Scoggin, Wichita school principal, as she walked to work. The date it was found, May 1889, has been scratched onto the surface of the pipe bowl. The pipe was drilled and polished at some point prior to this date and shows no evidence of having been smoked.
