This photo of Captain Hughes and Mabel's children was taken in Monterrey, CA, June 19, 1932. The boys are Bill on the left (age 14), James Renwick on the right (age 21). The girls are Betty (age 18) by James Renwick and Peggy (age 16) by Bill. James Clark Hughes was born in Topeka, Kansas, in 1888, and served in the Mexican Border Conflict, World War I, and World War II. He used an autographic camera to take pictures of friends, family, and places in the United States and Europe during World War I and the years following.
