This photograph from 1921 features the Santa Fe Auditors baseball team from Topeka. Most of the team's members worked in the Disbursement Department at Santa Fe Railroad. The Auditors played 32 games in 1921, with a record of 24-7-1. Seven of the games were contested in the eight-team Twilight League, where the Auditors won the pennant by going undefeated in league play. Seated in the photo's bottom row are (l to r): Hod Northup, pitcher; T.D. Neal, second baseman and team captain; Put Price, pitcher; and, Ray Duffey, pitcher. In the middle row are (l to r): Merle Worman, catcher and team manager; Bert Davis, treasurer; R.L. Harris, auditor of disbursements; and, Pete Hagen, first baseman. Standing in the back are (l to r): John McNair, third baseman; Stuart Engle, right fielder; Frank Reffelt, center fielder; Buell D. Painter, shortstop; and, Karl Abmeyer, left fielder.The photograph was published in the May 1921 issue of Santa Fe Magazine.
