Shown are two rim sherds recovered from the Fanning site in Doniphan County. They were donated to the Kansas Historical Society in 1925. One sherd is plain with a slightly outflaring rim. The other has a scalloped lip and fine vertical incised lines on the body. It is similar to an Oneota "Pumpkin Pot," with a widely spaced grooved appearance resembling a pumpkin. The Fanning site is an Oneota village site that was occupied during the Late Ceramic Period.
