Dear Sir
Will you please inform me what you have done about appointing agents for collecting funds for Kansas in Williamsburgh Goshen & Plainfield—I have received $72.47 from the village Church in Cunninington but nothing more from any town west of Northampton except what you paid me before the present movement – In the East the people respond to the appeal handsomely & the towns will average the amounts assigned them,

but here about & their contributions indicate Either that the conscience & of the people were relieved by their former gifts or that they despair of any effective relief that shall save Kansas from the threatdom of the South –

Pomeroy was on the border of the Territory 26th ult in good condition & with a large convoy of provisions – Dr Cutter met him there – When Cutter left the poor people had not three days provisions Except green

corn & beef. – He is quite desponding but left those behind in good [pluck?] who are determined to live or die in Kansas as shall be appointed unto them.
