This photograph shows inmates Sam Brown, 9590, and Jas Martin, 9427. Sam Brown was received at the Kansas State Penitentiary on December 9, 1900 from Montgomery County, Kansas for burglary and grand larceny. This was his second term in the penitentiary. Jas Martin was received at the penitentiary on June 28, 1900 from Crawford County, Kansas for grand larceny. This is also his second term at the penitentiary.
