This photograph shows inmates John Wm. Roley, prisoner #9234 and Bert Wiley, prisoner #9421. John Wm. Roley, also known by the surname spelling Riley, was received for his second term at the Kansas State Penitentiary on March 5, 1900 from Cherokee County, Kansas for manslaughter. He was sentenced on February 10, 1900. Bert Wiley was received at the penitentiary on June 21, 1900 from Rooks County, Kansas for grand larceny. He was sentenced on May 25, 1900.
