This photograph shows inmates John Doe, prisoner #9543 and Wm. Kley, prisoner #9344. John Doe was received at the Kansas State Penitentiary on November 21, 1900 from Cowley County, Kansas for stealing a horse and buggy. Wm. Kley was received at the penitentiary on May 5, 1900 from Jefferson County, Kansas for grand larceny. This was his second term at the penitentiary.
