The collection contains letters, photographs, newspaper articles and magazine articles documenting the China Burma Indian theater. Robert B. (Bob) Shreffler and his brother Howard (Bud) E. Shreffler, both employed by the Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe Railway were assigned to the 758th. The 758th was sponsored by the Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe Railway as part of the Military Railway Service in which all national class one railroad companies sponsored battalions. Included in the collection is a letter from Robert (Bob) Shreffler to Harry [Grassic] and the Gang, March 28, 1944, tells about India, the Indian people, conditions at the Army camp, their daily schedule, and the work they perform at the shops.
