The effigy of a face on the handle makes this Smoky Hill phase Middle Ceramic vessel unique. The sherds of this globular shell-temper pot were recovered during the 2003 Kansas Archeology Training Program field school from a village site along Mill Creek in Wabaunsee County. They were painstakingly pieced together. The decorations on the shoulder of the vessel include an undulating double line and chevrons oriented both up and down. An individualized support system consisting of a wood base and aluminum hardware, Plexiglas and monofilament line was constructed so that the fragile vessel could be photographed.
