The first of three volumes of a diary kept by Isaac Tichenor Goodnow prior to 1851. The first several pages recount his friendship with Almena M. Pelton, a fellow astronomy student at Wesleyan Seminary in Wilbraham, Massachusetts, whom he regarded as a sister. Goodnow gives a brief biography from his birth in Whitingham, Vermont on January 17, 1814 through the first diary entry on January 26, 1834. Several poems are included at the end of the diary.
