This black and white photograph shows engineer Jim Phillip greasing the wheels on the Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe Railway Company's steam locomotive #244 at Arkansas City, Kansas. The locomotive was built by the Schenectady Locomotive Works of Schenectady, New York, and was originally the Chicago, Kansas & Western #8. It was later renumbered San Francisco & San Joaquin Valley #202, and renumbered in 1900 as ATSF #46. It was scrapped for metal at San Bernardino, California, on June 26, 1922.
