This short pamphlet is an advertisement for the Missouri Meerschaum Company. Founded in 1869 and located in Washington, Missouri, this company is still in business today and is the oldest maker of corncob pipes in the world. Myron A. Waterman's pamphlet describes an idyllic country landscape and extolls the simple pleasures of rural living, complete with "a mocking bird singing" and "the majestic Ozarks towering above." Smoking a Missouri Meerschaum, according to Waterman, will transport the smoker to this peaceful place, and cause them to "thank the Lord for the Ozarks, for tobacco and corncobs."
