These three letters are addressed to Lewis Allen Alderson from his friend John M. Howe. Howe offers poetic advice as Alderson nears the end of college at the University of Ohio. Howe asks about the Infant Sabbath School in Athens and writes an attached greeting recounting the Fourth of July celebration at his Sabbath School in Newark where he currently taught. Alderson later moved to Atchison, Kansas, in 1858 and was a prominent Baptist minister. He died in Atchison in 1881. These letters are part of a larger Lewis Allen Alderson collection.
