Item Description Bookbag Share

Minneapolis, Kansas,  May 20th  1880

To his Excellency the Governor

of the State of Kansas

Sir:

We herewith extend to you an invitation to address the Temperance people of Ottawa County on Saturday the third day of July proximo.  In connection with this we desire to convey to you, the fact that subsequent to our action in reference to having a Temperance Celebration, an action was taken purporting to be a "citizens meeting", at which meeting the Temperance people were entirely ignored.  They have appointed a committee, and taken all the necessary steps for a celebration.

We therefore as the representatives of the Temperance people of Ottawa County have been appointed to correspond with you, in order to secure your services as "orator of the day" for our celebration,  Respectfully Submitted

David D Hoag

J H Hannus
